Cool it, cover it, and never break blisters.

Stop the burning.

Smother flames, remove from heat, brush off dry chemicals before flushing.

Never

  • Never use ice, butter, oil, or toothpaste
  • Never pop blisters

Evacuate now if

  • Burns to face, hands, feet, genitals, or across a joint
  • Burn larger than the patient's palm-and-fingers x5
  • Any deep, white, leathery, or painless burn
  • Smoke inhalation, soot around the nose, or hoarse voice
  • Electrical or chemical burns
