Wound Packing

Deep wounds in the neck, armpit, or groin where a tourniquet can't reach.

Find the bleeding vessel inside the wound.

Open the wound with gloved fingers if needed.

Never

  • Never pack a chest or abdominal cavity wound
  • Never pull packing out to look

Evacuate now if

  • All packed wounds need surgical care
  • Blood soaks through despite repacking
